Last week we unveiled a new option for online learners: a Professional Certificate from edX. The Department of Computer and Information Science presents the Computer Science Essentials for Software Development Professional Certificate.
Learners from around the world now have immediate online access to renowned Penn Engineering faculty through the four-course program, created for working professionals looking to hone their skills in software and web development.
The four courses in the program include:
- Software Development Fundamentals (SD1x)
- Data Structures and Software Design (SD2x)
- Algorithm Design and Analysis (SD3x)
Each should take four weeks to complete and costs $149.
“Software Development is a complex and growing field. We are proud to offer students the opportunity to learn about the intricacies that go beyond learning to write code,” says Kostas Daniilidis, director of Penn Engineering Online and Ruth Yalom Stone Professor in CIS.
Henry Salvatori Professor and chair of CIS Sampath Kannan, Senior Lecturer Arvind Bhusnurmath, and CIS Associate Professor of Practice and director of the Master of Computer and Information Technology program Chris Murphy are looking forward to share their enthusiasm about the constantly-evolving world of software development with their learners.
Murphy said, “The goal of this series is to help learners transition from being able to write a program to being able to develop a high-quality software product.”
